Welcome to the Center for Engineering Career Development (CECD) at the University of Virginia. We provide comprehensive career development services for all engineering students from first year through graduate level, including engineering alumni. Additionally, our office serves as a resource for information on industry trends, the job market and recruiting results for our students, employers, parents, and faculty.

Design a Career You Love
Come, learn how to apply design-thinking tools to your career plans and create a career vision that is in line with your unique interests, values and strengths. This interactive workshop will give you the tools to create a career vision that is both meaningful and satisfying. More info can be found here.
CECD is open Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. If you need career-related assistance outside of office hours, take advantage of several 24-hour resources:
Talk to a Career Counselor
Drop by Thornton A115 during walk-in hours, or Rice 107 on Tuesdays between 3:00pm and 5:00pm for a resume or cover letter review, or for quick tips and advice. Need longer than 15 minutes? Prefer a different time? Log on to Handshake to make an appointment.
The University Career Center also offers walk-in advising assistance. Check the website for a list of times.

Use the Resume Career Prep Packet (available online to the left or as a printed handout at our office) to guide you as you draft and develop your resume. Visit us during walk-in hours (see above) or schedule an individual appointment for a resume review.
Handshake is your resource for full-time jobs, part-time jobs, and internships posted by employers specifically for U.Va. students. All U.Va. students and alumni have access to the general job postings through the Handshake system. Register for an account today, complete your profile, and upload your resume!
